October 27, 2017 Bridge Point Elementary MRS. MEEK'S WEEKLY MESSAGE Dear BPE Families, Autumn is upon us and the year has begun in an exceptional manner! The months of September and October were very busy. As of today, we have successfully completed Arts Days and parent conferences. I wanted to thank all 95 parent volunteers, along with Jie Ralls, Ingrid Sprangle, Alex Fundemenski, and Susan Thomson for all their hard work, time and preparation that went into this awesome learning experience. As I walked around today, I witnessed our students' excitement and focus while learning and creating together. It was impressive! Most of the art is still here drying and will be sent home next week. Please ask your child about Arts Days…there is a lot to share.
In closing, I want to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to all of our BPE Families, Booster Club and the Eanes Education Foundation. Without each of you and your support, we could not do the exceptional work we do at school. We are through our first nine weeks and you are getting a glimpse of student progress and behavior from within the classroom. We want to continue working on great communication between parents and teachers, so please make sure you are checking teachers' websites weekly, reading newsletters, reviewing take home folders, calling the office to report absences/tardies, and checking lunch accounts. If there is anything I can personally do to help you or your family, don't hesitate to contact me.
All My Best, Heather Meek p.s. Every vote counts! Early voting runs now through November 3rd at Randalls West Lake Hills and includes Saturday (10/28) and Sunday (10/29). Election Day is Tuesday, November 7. BPE NEWS Let your voice be counted. For some of you, this information may have provided welcomed reassurance, while others may have been left wondering how better to support your child's social-emotional growth at home. One of our favorite resources is Parent Toolkit. This website has a wealth of resources and information on topics ranging from academics to health & wellness- there's even a section on financial literacy. Here in the counseling center, we LOVE the social and emotional section! There you can find developmental milestones, strategies to support your child's social and emotional growth and many great articles. We hope you will find this tool helpful whether you are in immediate need of support, or you want to bookmark the resource for future use.
Sincerely, Shelf Life: Library Update
From August 28th - September 29th, Bridge Point Library hosted a book drive to benefit Libraries of Love. This Austin-based nonprofit sends groups of volunteers to Africa each year to build school libraries for students. This year, Bridge Point families donated eight boxes worth of "like new" hardcover books to Libraries of Love.
