STEAM Day isn't just for the kids! Before registration, you will be prompted to sign up to volunteer and we really need your help! Volunteering is the only way to experience this day full of wonder with your child. If you are NOT volunteering, you will not be able to participate or observe the day!

Counselor's Corner

This month our counselor led classroom lesson built on the the November life skill, Growth Mindset. During each classroom visit, we explored "The Power of Yet" as we read the story, The Thing Lou Couldn't Do. Students took time in each class to set goals and think about ways they can have a growth mindset at home or at school. In third through fifth grade, students also watched a video about a group of young boys in Southern Thailand who used a growth mindset to start the original Panyee Football Club in 1986.

On Friday, November 17 we hosted a Parent Coffee to discuss how to empower your child using SEL. If you were unable to attend our parent coffee, or attended and want to refer to a slide, the whole presentation is posted on the Parent Talks section of our BPE SEL page.

We are excited to share with your our second No Place for Hate activity of the school year: Bully Free Dress Up Week! The week prior to the winter break, we will dress up each day to take a stand against bullying. Please see the attached picture for more information.

Sincerely,

Addie Edwards and Amy Ashorn

Eanes ISD voters overwhelmingly passed the proposed tax ratification, or Penny Swap & Drop proposition by 89 percent in the November 7 election. The TRE approval lowers the overall Eanes ISD tax rate by more than a penny to $1.20 and adds an estimated $3 million of non-recapturable funds to the district's operating budget.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) focus highlights self-awareness and self-management. "There is an emerging body of research that indicates mindfulness can help children improve their abilities to calm down when they are upset and to make better decisions," which is being self-aware.
