MRS. MEEK'S WEEKLY MESSAGE

Dear BPE Families,

On Friday, February 23, I would like to personally invite you to attend Open House anytime from 7:30 to 8:45 AM.  Students and teachers alike have been busily preparing for your visit.  This is the only day of the school year we do not have Morning Assembly.  When you arrive, please feel free to head up to your child's classroom.  He/She will show you around the classroom and take you around the school to some of their favorite places.  If you arrive before 7:30, please wait in the cafeteria, as teachers will need every last second to make sure things are perfect.  This is a come-and-go, casual event and a fun morning to experience your child's day.  At promptly 8:45, an announcement will be made and our regularly scheduled day will begin.  We look forward to seeing all of you on Friday!

All My Best,

Heather Meek

Counselor's Corner

This week we celebrated Valentine's Day, a day to share love, appreciation, kindness, and compassion which lines up perfectly with the launch of our final No Place for Hate activity: Project Kindness! This week, students in each grade filled out slips of paper with inspirational messages, compliments and other uplifting comments. Starting Monday, February 19, these notes will be placed in jars around the school. Students are encouraged to draw slips from these jars anytime they feel compelled to lift someone's spirits, or even brighten their own day. Next week students will also watch a video to further explain how to utilize the jars and we will share that video in the next counselor corner as well.

Sincerely,

Addie Edwards and Amy Ashorn

The Shelf Life: Library Updates

Powered by imagination, fueled by inspiration, Liquid Nails, french cleats and a magical maintenance man, our LEGO Wall is now ready for action! Last week was the grand opening and everyone, kindergarteners and fifth graders alike, seems to love it! Check out some photos of students enjoying the LEGO wall on the library blog. We are super excited to offer this new opportunity for students to create and problem solve in the library. Oh, and we are definitely still accepting LEGO donations if you have any at home you no longer want. Thank you!

During Open House on Friday, February 23rd, representatives from Westbank Library will be at Bridge Point to sign families up for library cards. The cards are free as long as you have a Westlake address. They will also be providing information about how to use the OverDrive app to check out ebooks. Families are encouraged to come down to the library any time from 7:30-8:45 to get a library card, sign up for OverDrive, and find out about Westbank's upcoming programs.

Sincerely,

Kate Ricter
