MRS. MEEK'S WEEKLY MESSAGE

Dear BPE Families,

We are on the downhill slide towards summer. As we head into May, there is much excitement in and around the building about May Madness. Friday, May 4th is the big day! The PE coaches and the May Madness volunteers have been working tirelessly to make this year's event one of the best yet. In keeping with our tradition of May Madness, the May Madness Assembly will be held on Friday morning after drop off. It's going to be a busy morning because Friday is also Senior Day. For those of you who are new, senior day is a day when we recognize current graduating seniors who attended BPE while in elementary school.

With the special events taking place here next Friday, I would like to ask that we all remain flexible and patient with the fact that parents and staff will NOT be able to park in the lower bus parking lot. Riverbend Church has kindly given us permission to use their parking lot and have been made aware that we will have many guests in and out of BPE all day. Parents WILL be permitted to use the lower bus parking lot for drop off in the morning but they may not park or get out of their cars to walk children into the building from the lower lot. I have asked parent volunteers to help me manage the lower bus parking lot by instructing them to close off the lot at 7:40 in preparation for May Madness. Thank you for all your support and cooperation.

As a quick reminder, Monday is a student holiday. I hope you all enjoy the long weekend…see you on Tuesday.

All my best,

Heather Meek

Counselor's Corner

Our April life skill was responsibility. Responsibility is an important life skill because it covers so many aspects of life- from responsible decision making, to being responsible for our belongings, words, and actions to being responsible for our Earth. In kindergarten through second grade we read What If Everybody Did That? While reading, we discussed how our actions- big or small- can have a major impact, either for the good when make responsible decisions or for the bad when we act irresponsibly. After reading the book, we played a game to act out, ask questions and brainstorm ways of showing responsibility.

As a reminder, the 2018-2019 Class Placement Parent Input Form is currently available for you to provide input about your child's personality and learning style for next year. Our intent is for each student to be set up for success academically, emotionally, and socially. Please refrain from making specific friend and/or teacher requests, as they will NOT be honored. This form is completely optional and certainly not necessary.  However, it is an opportunity for parents to provide input on the best learning environment for their child if they feel inclined. All parent input is due Friday, May 11, 2018.

Sincerely,

Addie Edwards

Bridge Point's 21st annual May Madness is just around the corner!!  This year's May Madness promises to be lots of fun with lots of awesome stations! More details are below and we still need LOTS of volunteers to make it all happen, so please read on!

Students should wear cool and comfortable shorts and a t-shirt with athletic shoes or running sandals. Please do not send your child with flip-flop type sandals, Crocs or shoes that won't be safe to run in.

SUNSCREEN IS A MUST FOR THIS DAY!!  Please apply sunscreen the morning before school and send some with your child to reapply before activities begin. There will be extra sunscreen at various stations.

Thank you in advance to those parents who have volunteered to help out on this MAD day! Please be prepared to stay the entire shift (try to avoid being late or leaving early). If you are volunteering, dress to play! (athletic shoes, comfortable shirt and shorts, etc. are a must to be active!). If you are volunteering, especially in the afternoon, please use Smart tag for any transportation changes. If you have not yet signed up for this unbelievable day - it is not too late!  Go to the Booster Club website to sign up! We need lots of moms and dads!!

**Please make childcare arrangements for younger children—your hands will be full and busy!

We hope this information will help you and your child to prepare for a day of MADNESS!  If necessary, our rain out date will be Friday, May 18th.   We know this will be a day of fun for all and hope that you'll be able to join us!
