MRS. MEEK'S WEEKLY MESSAGE

Dear BPE Families,

We are so proud of all of our students as they have managed to adjust to all the new schedules and procedures so easily. It makes me proud to see students walking around the campus with so much confidence. Parents are invited to eat lunch with their child starting this coming Tuesday. Please remember to only bring food for your child for allergy and safety reasons.

The start of the school year brings opportunities for students in Eanes ISD to connect and take part in all of the different community education enrichment programs. The fall catalog was released this week and I wanted to make sure you all knew about these opportunities for your kids. I do not endorse any specific program, but want to point that these programs exist. The catalog can be found in the District News section of this newsletter. Below is just a sampling of all the great classes offered:

Athletics and Personal Growth

Kuk Sool Won Martial Arts

AYF Biking Club

Golf in Schools

Language, Culture, & Culinary Arts

Sticky Fingers Cookin

Music and Art

Theater Rocks!

Young Rembrandts Elementary Drawing 1

STEM

Science Discovery & Design

Little Coders

In addition to Community Education Enrichment, our Destination Imagination (DI) teams are currently forming teams for the coming school year. There will be a district-wide parent info meeting about this awesome creative problem solving organization at 6:00 PM on September 12, 2018, at the EISD Board Room. I have attached a flyer to announce this meeting. I encourage students from BPE participate in this great organization.

The highly anticipated Labor Day weekend is upon us. I hope you enjoy spending time together as a family and work in some time to relax before we resume back to school on Tuesday.

All my best,

Heather Meek

BPE NEWS

Counselor's Corner

This week Mrs. Cheatham and Miss Edwards visited fifth grade classrooms to introduce 5th grade leadership!  Fifth Grade Leadership is an opportunity for fifth grade students to help their BPE community by volunteering their fitness/recess time to help teachers and other adults around the school.  Fifth grade students who complete three or more leadership jobs will earn a Leadership Pin in the spring. The leadership section of our SEL Website is still under construction, but by the end of next week all leadership jobs will be posted here.  While fifth graders are responsible for keeping track of their jobs, parents may find it helpful to use this webpage to help their fifth graders stay on track.

Next week we will introduce our first Life Skill of the school year and begin our classroom counselor lessons. As always, we will keep our website updated with information about what we're doing in classrooms and include some of that info here in the Counselor Corner, as well.  Our hope in providing this information is that we equip parents with language and topics to help carry on the SEL conversation at home!

Sincerely,

Addie Edwards & Jennifer Cheatham
