MRS. MEEK'S WEEKLY MESSAGE
Dear BPE Families,
Thank you so much for getting your children to school on time each day. Morning drop off is running smoothly and I'm happy to report that bus routes have been finalized. As an added bonus, carpool is running much quicker in the afternoon!
I have a few important reminders to share…

United We Rock! EEF Fund Drive
This coming week is the district-wide Eanes Education Foundation (EEF) Teacher Fund Drive. Join us as we have fun with this year's theme of United we Rock at morning assembly on Friday, September 14th. You won't want to miss seeing which rock star might make a cameo appearance! Most importantly, please help us support our teachers by considering a donation this week to the Teacher Fund. Help BPE achieve 100% participation!
- After 7:50 AM, our attendance clerk and office volunteer return to the office after writing tardies at the middle doors. If you drop off your child at the front of the building after 7:50 AM, please remind your child that we now have a "doorbell." Some students have been found standing at the front doors, confused as to why the doors are locked. Our Assistant Principal, Sheri Bryant, will be taking every class on a quick "field trip" to the front of the building to show all students where the door buzzer is located next week.
- Next Friday, September 14 at 8:00 AM, I will be speaking at our first Booster Club parent coffee. Hope to see you there!
- NEW THIS YEAR: To protect student privacy, teachers may not provide class email lists to parents for purposes of homeroom parent communications or social invitations. To ensure you don't miss out on important events, please OPT-IN to the Booster Club Directory. Go to My Account > Sign Up and Donate > Family Information and select each child's teacher. Then, go to "Directory and Publish Preferences" and choose "Yes." You can determine what information will be shared -- at a minimum, we just need an email address. This process takes less than a minute of your time and will be a huge help. Thank you!
- STEM Scouts, an after school program for 3rd-5th grade girls and boys, will have their parent orientation and signup meeting Tuesday, September 11, from 3-4:30 pm in Room 208 at BPE. Last year the kids explored STEM through mummified apples, laser targets and robotics. This year's projects include fluid dynamics, electric circuits, and chemistry. Counselor's Corner
This week we introduced our first Life Skill of the year: Respect! We explained how to earn a Respect Bobcat Head cutout and what it means to show respect with the help of this video. Teachers began passing out Bobcat Heads to recognize students demonstrating respectful behavior. Students will continue to focus on showing Respect throughout the month of September. At the end of the month, all bobcat head cutouts will be entered into a drawing for gift certificates to All Star Burger!
This week we also began our counselor led lessons in some kindergarten and second grade classrooms. We read the book Do Unto Otters, by Laurie Keller, which facilitated discussion on respect and how to treat others.
