October 27, 2018 MRS. MEEK'S WEEKLY MESSAGE Dear BPE Families,
This week has felt a little different as we awoke to the City of Austin's Boil Notice Monday morning. We all jumped in and took action to ensure our students' access to clean drinking water. The district delivered water to each campus daily. In addition, many parents, companies, and community members dropped off water to our school throughout the week. Thank you! I'm hoping life next week will be a little easier on on everyone as we look forward to drier weather.
As of yesterday, we have successfully completed Arts Days and Parent Conferences. Thank you to our parents and The Booster Club for graciously donating all of the Arts Days supplies and precious time needed to pull off our annual Arts Days. From my perspective, the parent-led workshops were very creative, engaging, and informative. A special "shout out" goes to Jolyn Peden and Susan Thomson for all of their hard work, time, and preparation that went into coordinating this awesome learning experience. The students have a lot to share and I encourage you to ask your child about his/her workshop creations from today.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 6, 2018. Bridge Point will be a polling location for our community. Voting will take place in the gym and a security guard will be present throughout the day. All voters will enter and exit through the gym doors and will not have access to the rest of our building. This is also an early release day for Eanes ISD. Bridge Point will dismiss students at 11:50 and lunch will not be served. Please update your Smart Tag dismissal change ASAP if you know your child will need to go home a different way on Tuesday, November 6. Dismissal changes need to be made no later than 10:50 am on all early release days.
Have a great weekend, Heather Meek
BPE NEWS Counselors' Corner
If you were a parent in Eanes last year, you are already familiar with the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) criteria on the report card, which was added last year. For some of you, this information may have provided welcomed reassurance, while others may have been left wondering how better to support your child's social-emotional growth at home. One of our favorite resources is Parent Toolkit. This website has a wealth of resources and information on topics ranging from academics to health & wellness- there's even a section on financial literacy. As counselors, we are particularly fond of the social and emotional section! There you can find developmental milestones, strategies to support your child's social and emotional growth and many great articles. We hope you will find this tool helpful whether you are in immediate need of support, or you want to bookmark the resource for future use.
Sincerely, Addie Edwards and Jennifer Cheatham BPE CALENDAR DISTRICT NEWS Superintendent Dr. Tom Leonard presents highlights from last year as well as challenges & opportunities facing our District.
