April 27, 2019 MRS. MEEK'S WEEKLY MESSAGE Dear BPE Families, I can't believe the school year is quickly coming to an end. Our students and staff continue to work hard as we look forward to summer vacation in a few short weeks. As we move into May, I am asking for your help to "get the word out" about couple of important dates, Senior Day and Ms. Hester's retirement reception.
Ms. Hester's Retirement Reception: We are going to celebrate Ms. Joan Hester on her retirement (35 years of service in education) on Monday, May 20 from 3:10-4:30 in the BPE library. All current and former families are invited. This is a come and go event.
Don't forget that Tuesday, April 30 is an early release day. Students will be dismissed from school at 11:50 am. Lunch will not be served. Please be sure to update your child's dismissal through Smart Tag ASAP if you know that there will be dismissal changes for the early release day. Enjoy the sunshine!
All My Best, Heather Meek BPE NEWS Counselor's Corner
In lieu of lessons on responsibility in third grade, we spent the month of April focusing on how to manage stress and anxiety, particularly as it pertains to test taking. Though we geared our discussion toward test taking, we also discussed other circumstances when these tools/strategies might be useful, such as before a big event such as a performance or competition, or whenever our body starts to display signs of stress. Some strategies we discussed included visualizing, rest, deep breathing and positive self talk.
Sincerely, Ms. Edwards and Mrs. Cheatham
